    Around Bangkok

    Benjakitti Forest Park
    Sustainable Environmental Conservation Park

Located next to Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, this 102-acre rectilinear park deploys urban designer Kongjian Yu’s “sponge city” concept, transforming a former industrial site in a flood-vulnerable city – into a resilient landscape. The park’s design features hundreds of mounded islands surrounded by four lakes capable of holding a million cubic meters of storm water. The lakes and wetlands also naturally filter and clean polluted water and provide a habitat for wildlife.

    Bang Krachao
Bangkok’s green lung and city oasis

Bang Krachao is a man-made island in the middle of the Chao Praya River consisting of 16 square kilometres of mangrove forest, canals and homesteads. Often referred to as the ‘Green lung of Bangkok’ its jungle canopy helps to reduce pollution in the city. There’s also a floating market, old Buddhist temples and an eco-resort. Many tourists like to hire a bicycle to explore the island and get a first-hand view of the traditional Thai lifestyle and culture.
