Greetings from The University of Manchester

I'm delighted that we’re hosting the 2024 Times Higher Education World Academic Summit in Manchester. It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the city of revolutions – birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, the feminist revolution, great scientific, technological and creative revolutions, as well as the UK’s first civic university. 

At The University of Manchester, we have a proud history of innovative research, transformative education and social responsibility that have been making a difference since 1824. We bring brilliant minds together by working across boundaries and disciplines to deliver solutions to the world’s most pressing problems. 

This year, we're inviting delegates to consider the role of higher education in a rapidly changing world and what more we can do to improve people’s lives locally and globally. Over the three days of the Summit, we'll explore the importance of civic responsibility; driving innovation; collaboration within and between institutions, as well as with other partners; and global impact.

Join us to meet university leaders from around the world, learn more about the challenges and opportunities facing our sector, and enjoy the energy and dynamism of Manchester.
