Discover Tianjin
Ancient Culture Street
Officially opened on New Year’s Day in 1986, the street attracts many visitors who come to admire its architecture, purchase folk crafts, and try delicious local snacks. A notable attraction is the Tianjin Folklore Museum which boasts 2,000 folk items. It describes the development and customs from various aspects of daily life, trade, arts and clothes, as well as the development of water transportation, fishing and salt trade in Tianjin.
The Five Great Avenues
Highly influenced by European culture, this lovely area is rich with diverse architectural styles and consists of five streets named after five Chinese cities – Chengdu, Chongqing, Changde, Dali and Munan. It is a nice place to stroll around, but you can also get a horse-driven carriage or rent a Surrey bicycle from one of the many street corners for the best experience. Tour guides are available to give historical details on the various buildings.
Porcelain House
Also called China House, this landmark was originally a French building with a history of more than 100 years. Many ancient porcelain wares were used to decorate it as a ceramic house. The perfect combination of Oriental classical art and Western architecture reveals the masterpiece. It was bought by Zhang Lianzhi in 2000, and since then he has been continuously adding porcelain figures to the collection.
