Thank you to everyone who joined us online for the THE MENA Universities Summit 2021 to examine how a global education can provide research and creative opportunities for students that concurrently wield positive social impact for the region.
Hosted in partnership with NYU Abu Dhabi, brought together leaders of higher education, government and industry from the MENA region to focus on higher education teaching and research models, while sharing global perspectives on how to nurture a talent pipeline.

Fulfilling our potential: developing the knowledge economy for the MENA region
The THE MENA Universities Summit 2018 took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in partnership with King Abdulaziz University. It brought together over 300 delegates from 31 countries experts to explore how universities can play a leading role in securing a sustainable future for their host nations and the region.
During three days of critical keynotes and panel debates, networking events and workshops, we discussed how universities can deliver a successful research strategy, how universities and industry can collaborate both locally and internationally, and how employers, universities and government can work together to close the skills gap.

World-class higher education as a driver of sustainable national development
The THE MENA Universities Summit 2016 took place in Al Ain, UAE, in partnership with United Arab Emirates University. Delegates and speakers from leading universities and multinational corporations, government officials and policymakers came together to explore issues such as engaging stakeholders, international collaboration, governance and benchmarking for success.
Experienced professionals from universities across MENA’s dynamic higher education sector, and experts from think tanks and non-governmental organisations share good practice with thought-leaders and innovators about international collaboration and engaging staeholders.
23–24 February 2015
The inaugural THE MENA Universities Summit 2015 took place in Doha, Qatar, in partnership with Qatar University. The summit addressed the development of research in the region by building a world-class university through leadership, strategy, international research collaboration, industry-university collaboration and teaching excellence. Together, we highlighted the tremendous opportunities ahead while addressing important challenges that face the region in its determination to build strong education systems that drive development.
