ABOUT THE EVENT
MARCH 30 – APRIL 1, 2021
After an uncertain year for US politics, the presidential change has restored confidence in the future of American higher education for many. With new leadership comes the hope of increased government aid, less hostility towards international students, and greater funding for scientific research.
Despite this, the disruption of 2020 will be felt by higher education institutions for years to come. This free three-day virtual conference will bring together university stakeholders from across the United States to discuss and debate the future of academia, through 2021 and beyond.
Discussion topics included:
AGENDA THEMES

Day 1: Diversity, inclusion, access
University leaders will explore the impact of a new presidential administration on US colleges and the creation of a more favourable climate for international education.
With input from EducationUSA (a US Department of State network of more than 400 international student advisory centres in more than 170 countries), the American Council on Education and a number of top-tier colleges, the discussions will focus on promoting equality, questioning outdated practices, and creating campus cultures that are diverse and inclusive.

Day 2: The future of the curriculum
The past year has radically redefined the roles of both student and teacher in higher education. As we attempt to get back to normality, which practices should we take forward with us?
Experts will consider the future of pedagogy within higher education and whether the traditional university model may have changed for good. What is the future of online learning? Do smaller colleges need to reinvent themselves? Has assessment changed forever?

Day 3: Strategies for success
The pandemic has forced universities to rethink tradition and embrace change at every level. As we look beyond Covid-19, what strategies have universities implemented that can set them up for success?
University leaders will discuss the strategic decisions that can help to repair the damage caused over the past year. How can you generate new revenue streams and communicate effectively with your students? What is the impact of leadership? Has the role of the governance board changed?
