Visas
Some delegates may require a visa to enter the country. Please note that it can take several weeks to process a visa application so early application is recommended.
We can provide visa invitation letters for ticket holders when requested. Please email a photo/scan of your passport to events@timeshighereducation.com once you have booked your ticket.
We cannot accept any responsibility for visa applications. Where a delegate is unable to attend because of failure to obtain a visa on time, the normal cancellation policy for the ticket fee will apply.

By public transport
By bus: Edinburgh's primary bus terminal is at St Andrews Square, offering connections across the UK. For routes, visit: National Express or City Link. For local services, check Lothian Buses.
By train: Edinburgh has two railway stations, Check Scot Rail or Trainline for more information:
By tram: Edinburgh Trams operate between Airport and York Place. The closest stop to EICC is at Haymarket Station. Visit Edinburgh Trams for details.
Walk from Haymarket Station: Exit Haymarket Station, head east towards pedestrian crossing, walk straight up Morrison Street to find EICC on the left.
By car, taxi and bike
By car: The EICC is right in the centre of Edinburgh. For satnav directions input EH3 8EE as the destination postcode. There are many car parks within walking distance:
By taxi: Popular rideshare and taxi services include Uber and City Cabs.
By bike: There are bike racks which can accommodate ten bikes, at the main entrance on Morrison Street, and spaces for a further twenty bikes at the racks behind the Atria One office building next to the EICC. For nearby routes, take a look at Edinburgh's cycle paths, many of which run close to the EICC.
By plane
From Edinburgh Airport by taxi: You will find official airport taxis at the taxi rank outside the terminal building (follow the signs within the airport). A taxi costs ~£15 to the city centre and takes 20 minutes depending on the time of day.
From Edinburgh Airport by tram: Trams run between the airport and York Place, in central Edinburgh, every 8-10 minutes. The closest stop to the EICC is Haymarket Station. The first tram from Edinburgh Airport departs at 06:15 and the last at 22:45. Visit Edinburgh Trams for more info.
From Edinburgh Airport by bus: The Airlink 100 operates a frequent service (every 10 minutes at peak times) between Edinburgh Airport and the city centre, with designated stops en route. The journey takes 20 minutes and tickets cost £4.50 single and £7.50 return. Disembark at Haymarket Station and follow signs for EICC on foot (5-minute walk). Visit Lothian Buses for more info.

What is the main language?
English is the most widely spoken and the language of official business and commerce.
Which currency can I use?
The UK’s currency is the pound sterling (£, GBP) with notes in denominations of £5, £10, £20 and £50, and coins in denominations of 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2. While most shops and restaurants accept credit cards, it is still a good idea to have some cash on you (especially small change). ATMs are easily accessible in most shopping malls, high streets and banks.
Which plug socket is used?
The UK uses type G plug sockets. The standard voltage is 230 V at a frequency of 50 Hz. We would recommend bringing a universal adapter.
Will wi-fi be available?
Free wi-fi is available throughout the university's buildings. Connection details will be displayed at the check-in desk.
Are there data roaming charges?
You will need to check the exact charges with your network provider but most international delegates will incur high data roaming charges.
