About Nankai University
Established in 1919, Nankai University is a leading multidisciplinary and research-oriented public university in China. It features a balance between humanities and sciences, and promotes a combination of application and creativity. Nankai University is located in Tianjin, 130 km from Beijing. It operates across three campuses – Balitai Original Campus, Jinnan New Campus and TEDA (Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area) Campus – and has 32,559 students, including 16,902 undergraduates, 10,966 graduates, 4,731 PhD students and over 2,000 international students. In 2017, Nankai University joined the Double First-Class initiative, a national policy that aims to develop a group of world-class universities and disciplines by the end of 2050.

In a bid to establish a world-class university and make a greater contribution to global higher education, Nankai University initiated the 4211 Seeking Excellence Plan at its centennial, which includes four schemes to enhance academic programmes, two incentive mechanisms to encourage taking initiatives in teaching and research, and a pledge to build 10 interdisciplinary research centres and 10 joint international research centres.
