Host partner
Greetings from UFMG
Dear all,
We are thrilled to host THE Latin America Universities Summit 2025 next July, and we eagerly look forward to welcoming you to UFMG (Federal University of Minas Gerais) in Belo Horizonte, the capital city of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil.
As we approach our university's 100th anniversary, we celebrate a significant milestone. Since our founding, we have been driven by a unique perspective: to transform lives and advance the development of Brazil and Latin America through high-quality higher education. Looking to the future, our institution is guided by an ambitious vision centered on leadership, social impact, and innovation for human and social development. Through teaching, research, and community engagement, we strive to make a difference and address global challenges in collaboration with our partners and stakeholders worldwide. It is a privilege to discuss with you the challenges and opportunities we face as a region.
What role do universities play in regional development for enhanced social impact? How can we strengthen academic collaboration with government, civil society, and industry, increase research visibility, and deepen internationalisation in Latin America while protecting the environment, upholding minority rights, promoting mental health on campus, and fostering technological advancement in local communities?
These are crucial questions for the future of our education and institutions as we aim to expand collaboration in Latin America and globally, ensuring the primary role of universities as repositories of trusted knowledge. Together, we can learn from each other how partner institutions are transforming and leading change.
I encourage you to make the most of the summit and your stay in Belo Horizonte and Minas Gerais, and I wish you a productive and enjoyable experience in Brazil.
I look forward to welcoming you to UFMG in July 2025.
Best regards,
