Welcome to the Latin America Data Forum 2024!

We are excited to welcome you to this gathering of reflections and exchange, which seeks to contribute to a better understanding of the institutional reality of Latin American universities. Talking among ourselves, getting to know each other, sharing ideas and experiences and seeking joint solutions are at the core of university life, and that is what we aim for at this forum.

Higher education in Latin America is undergoing a marked expansion process that will continue in the coming decades. This trend brings challenges for governments, institutions and university stakeholders. Achieving the widest possible access to quality higher education while promoting equity and equal opportunities is a goal that requires commitment from all. Furthermore, rethinking teaching methodologies and adapting content, processes and structures resulting from growing digitalization is imperative for educational institutions.

Governments and institutions must promote evidence-based public policies, institutional management and pedagogical innovations to ensure effective progress towards these goals. The sector's ongoing digital transformation presents a great opportunity to foster a data-driven management culture, and we aim to contribute to this throughout this meeting.

The Latin American region can be considered at an initial stage regarding data sources. Higher education is no exception. Promoting robust institutional analysis practices, consolidating statistical information systems at national and regional levels, and sharing positive experiences are important agendas for the future.

Universidad Austral is a relatively young institution that aims to integrate itself into the tradition of Argentinian universities with influence in the region. Since inception, its institutional quality directorate has driven the continuous improvement of practices to offer its audiences an excellent education, contribute to scientific production, and boost local and regional development.
