Greetings from Shiv Nadar University

Welcome to Shiv Nadar University. We are located in the national capital region of India (Delhi-NCR) on a sprawling 286-acre campus. I am keenly looking forward to the global summit on the theme of "Beyond borders: Innovation, impact and higher education" and the opportunity to bring you to our university. Hosted in partnership with THE, this will be the first THE Innovation & Impact Summit to be held in India. We expect it to bring together a truly global community of speakers and attendees to discuss a diverse range of areas including AI, space, biodiversity, the arts and social innovations. We will strive to learn best practices from each other and sow seeds of collaboration that will grow into solid partnerships. 

Established just 12 years ago, Shiv Nadar University is the youngest university to be recognised as an Institution of Eminence by the Government of India, defining a new trajectory for higher education in the country. As we look forward to the next decade, we will continue to drive foundational thinking within, across and beyond disciplines – be it in the sciences, management, entrepreneurship, engineering, the humanities or social sciences.

Our focus will remain steadfast on the fundamental pillars of a great university: a holistic, multidisciplinary education; research and innovation; and a commitment to the betterment of society. We wish to be defined not only by the outcomes we achieve – our aspirations are more audacious. Our agenda is to transform the very ways in which we learn, discover, teach, analyse, act, live and come together to create an institution of higher learning. Respect for diversity, a commitment to advancing the SDGs, a global perspective and service to the community are core values we uphold.

About Shiv Nadar University

Shiv Nadar University was established in 2011 by Shiv Nadar, one of Asia’s foremost philanthropists and a pioneer of the technological revolution in India. It is a multidisciplinary research university located in Delhi-NCR and offers undergraduate, master’s and doctoral degrees in engineering, the social sciences and humanities, management and entrepreneurship, and the natural sciences. Research, in its broadest sense, is the fundamental pillar of the academic mission of the university. We believe that the university must be a centre for the discovery and creation of new forms of knowledge and expression, going beyond the dissemination of existing knowledge. Shiv Nadar University is the youngest university in India to be designated an Institution of Eminence by the Government of India. It is also the youngest university to feature in the top 100 of the National Institutional Ranking Framework for seven years in a row. Its research in biological sciences and chemistry is ranked among the top 30 in the country by the Nature India Index. The university’s faculty is drawn from the best institutions in India and the world, and our 4,200 alumni can be found in some of the best organisations and universities all over the globe.

Shiv Nadar University is deeply committed to advancing the SDGs. It practices sustainability in every way possible. It has been placed among the top 200 globally for SDG 6 and top 300 globally for SDG 7 by the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2023. The university’s 286-acre campus serves as a “living lab” for the education of our students. Its rich biodiversity was recently featured in Scientific American.
