    Greetings from Amrita University, India

It is my great pleasure that Amrita University is to host the THE University Impact Forum: Health & Well-being Asia. Anchored by Amrita School of Medicine & Amrita Centre for Accreditations, Rankings & Eminence, the event will be the ideal platform to discuss the recent developments in the healthcare sector.

Amrita University is a multi-campus, multi-disciplinary research university accredited A++ by NAAC, the highest accreditation, and is ranked as one of the best research universities in India. The university is ranked 5th in India according to NIRF 2021, Ministry of Education, Government of India. The university continuously collaborates with top US universities including Ivy league universities and top European universities for regular student exchange programmes and has emerged as one of the fastest-growing institutions of higher learning in India.

A renowned humanitarian leader and spiritual teacher, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (affectionately known as AMMA or Mother) is the guiding light of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. Amma’s concept of education, stress on research and commitment to instilling universal values have come together to shape Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham into an institution where the latest advancements and discoveries combine with compassion and service-mindedness.

The THE Impact Rankings – the only global indicators to assess universities' progress towards the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals – have ranked Amrita, 1st in India and 81st in the world. It is an acknowledgement of the university's commitment to remain an exemplary institution that creates global impact on society through compassion-driven research and education for life. It is an education that harmonises scientific knowledge and spiritual learning to create a sustainable tomorrow for all.

Notably, Amrita has been ranked 5th in the world for furthering SDG4 (quality education) and 8th for SDG5 (gender equality). The varsity was also ranked 37th for SDG3 (good health & well-being), 52nd for SDG6 (clean water and sanitation).

The Faculty of Medical Sciences has undertaken ground-breaking research in medical sciences to achieve SDG3.

The forum will act as a platform to discuss the innovations in health care, the global collaborations for improving quality healthcare and the practical approaches to universal health coverage which has become more important than ever since Covid-19. As the world grapples with the pandemic, this forum will be a meeting place for academics, policymakers, corporates and researchers to discuss not only these burning issues but also how they will influence the SDGs that the world is trying to achieve by 2030.
