    Visas

You do not need a visa if you come from the EU/EFTA member states, the UK or any visa-free country listed by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A travel document valid for at least 6 months after your planned departure date entitles you to enter Germany.

Citizens of other countries must obtain a visa before entering Germany. Please note that it can take up to 15 days to process a Schengen short-stay visa so early application is recommended. Please book an appointment at your embassy at least 4-6 weeks before your planned arrival date.

When entering Germany, you will need to show the following documents, depending on your nationality:

    • EU nationals: Valid passport or national ID card.
    • Non-EU nationals who are visa-exempt: Valid passport or travel document.
    • Non-EU nationals with visa requirements: Valid passport with a Schengen visa and supporting documents.

Non-EU travellers may also be asked to present:

    1. Proof of hotel reservation.
    2. A round-trip ticket to Germany and back.
    3. Travel insurance coverage for your entire stay.
    4. Cash or documents that prove sufficient funds for your entire stay (€45 per day).

We can provide visa invitation letters for ticket holders when requested. Please email a photo/scan of your passport to events@timeshighereducation.com once you have booked your ticket.

We cannot accept any responsibility for visa applications. Where a delegate is unable to attend because of failure to obtain a visa on time, the normal cancellation policy for the ticket fee will apply.
