Building inclusive digital futures
Digital Universities UK brought together higher education, industry and policy leaders working at the intersection of academic innovation and technology to reimagine universities in the digital age.
To coincide with the rapid pace of innovation, institutions must break new ground and position higher education as a flexible, inclusive lifelong learning experience that empowers today’s modern learner for life and work in a digital society.
The event presented the latest challenges and opportunities of digital transformation along with the culture change needed to enable global sharing of knowledge and learning without boundaries. Hosted in partnership with the University of Exeter, the event also presented keynotes, interactive panels, live demonstrations, intimate discussions, practical workshops, unparalleled networking and much more.
Agenda themes
Digital Universities UK has really opened my eyes to the challenges facing the higher education sector as well as to the opportunities that lie ahead! – David Hayes, chief data officer, The Open University |
We showcased how we are using technology to develop a greener, healthier and fairer world and preparing students with the skills they need for the future workplace. The event presented an opportunity to create new connections from across the globe, immersing yourself in the experience through ‘doing’. We want to connect and collaborate with our higher education partners, policymakers and the wider industry, to explore how we can harness the enormous potential of the digital revolution. We want to learn from the world and help lead the transformation and set new benchmarks for higher education. – Professor Lisa Roberts, president and vice-chancellor, University of Exeter |
Start-up Competition
Day 1 of Digital Universities UK 2024 finished with the final of our Start-up Competition. The aim was to find the best pre-seed funding edtech start-ups in the digital learning space looking to bring new ideas to, and address major challenges for, the higher education community.
Entries were judged by THE, the University of Exeter and our expert panel of edtech investors, and the 10 shortlisted start-ups had the opportunity to join us at Digital Universities UK, where in addition, five finalists were invited on stage in a special session on 16 April to pitch their product or innovation to our panel.
The winner was interviewed by a THE journalist and had their story shared with our global digital audience, plus an invitation to join us as a speaker in 2025.
The entry deadline was 17:00 on Monday 18 March.
