Welcome to WSB Merito University in Wroclaw
We are pleased to invite you to the next edition of Digital Universities Europe, which will be held in Poland on 23-25 September 2024 at WSB Merito University in Wroclaw.
Since 2015, when all UN member states adopted the resolution “Transforming our world: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”, our lives have changed in previously unpredictable ways. The pandemic moved education, work and our family and social contacts to the virtual world for many months. Technology has allowed us to continue classes at universities and carry out tasks at work. At the same time, the global situation and the scale of demand for digital services in everyday matters that it has created have resulted in the development of systems, programmes and digital capabilities accelerating at an unprecedented pace.
The 2030 agenda, in its fourth point, obliges us at global and local levels to provide high-quality education to all and to promote lifelong learning. It calls for an inclusive approach to the design of education – including the use of digital technologies – taking into account the opportunities and technological possibilities for all target groups. This raises not only technological, logistical and social challenges for universities and other institutions, but also responsibility at the ethical and legal levels.
Today, technology has changed its paradigm. In the past it was designed for the development of enterprises, supporting people in their learning and work. Now, technology itself can create; it has gained a kind of autonomy. And in 2023, another great technological breakthrough has occurred – the impressive, and sometimes alarming, possibilities of using artificial intelligence in education or work. The emergence of AI and ChatGPT offers great possibilities in the development of teaching methodologies, but also needs regulating at the legal level in educational processes.
How can we use technology to support education in the process of not only substantive education, but also in the building of value-based societies? We invite you to Wroclaw, where we will be able to exchange experiences and work together as a team on solutions for the future of education in sustainable development.
See you in Poland. The future is already here.
